Terms of Service (Parents)

Effective Date: May 2026. These terms govern your use of Family Anchor as a Parent user. By creating an account, you agree to these legal obligations.

1. Platform Description

Family Anchor is a digital platform designed to assist co-parents in managing shared child expenses, coordinating custody schedules, creating parenting agreements, and tracking compliance and communication.

Family Anchor provides structured records, reports, and collaboration tools.
Family Anchor does NOT provide legal advice, act as a court, or enforce agreements legally.

2. Acceptance & Eligibility

By accessing or using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. You must be at least 18 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into agreements under South African law.

3. Nature of the Platform

Crucial Notice

"Family Anchor is an administrative and bookkeeping tool. We provide a platform for data entry and organization. We are not a legal service provider, nor are we a mediator or arbitrator."

Any content generated by the system (e.g., adherence scores or expense splits) is based strictly on the data entered by users. We do not guarantee the legal validity of these records in court, although they are designed to provide a structured audit trail that may be used as evidence.

4. User Responsibilities & Conduct

  • Accuracy of Information: You are solely responsible for ensures that all data entered (expenses, events, communication) is accurate and truthful.
  • Tamper-Proof Principle: Once specific records are approved or locked, they cannot be edited. This ensures the integrity of the audit trail.
  • Respectful Communication: You agree to use the messaging module in a civil manner. System-wide filters may flag and log inappropriate language.
  • South African Context: Users are responsible for ensuring that their use of the platform complies with South African laws, including the Children's Act and POPIA.

5. Data & Privacy (POPIA)

We take your family's privacy seriously. We process personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). By using the platform, you consent to the collection and processing of data necessary to provide the service.

You acknowledge that parenting involves the processing of information about minors. You confirm that you have the legal right or parental consent to process this information for the benefit of the child.

6. Fees & Subscriptions

Access to Family Anchor may require a paid subscription. Fees are non-refundable unless required by South African consumer protection laws. We reserve the right to modify pricing with 30 days notice.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by South African law, Family Anchor shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from co-parenting disputes, legal outcomes, or the use/misuse of the platform by either party.

8. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the South African courts.
